MUMBAI: Radio City 91.1FM, in a bid to woo more listeners with festivals like Makar Sankranti and Pongal on charts, is organising different events in Lucknow and Coimbatore.

In Lucknow, in association with The Indian Red Cross Society, Radio City has donated woollen clothes ranging from blankets, cardigans, gloves, mufflers, socks, shawls to the slum dwellers as a part of the initiative "Bye Bye Thand" on Makar Sankranti.

Lucknow's RJs - RJ Vera and Amir visited the slum area to present the collected items to the people. The RJs also presented Radio City goodies and a gift voucher to the Radio Cityzen who contributed the maximum amount of quality woollens.

Commenting on the initiative, Radio City 91.1 FM marketing national head Rana Barua said, "The success of this touching campaign has been a memorable start to the New Year at Lucknow's Radio City."

In Coimbatore, Radio City commemorated the occasion of Pongal with the Pongal-O-Pongal contest. Sharing Pongal festivities with over 25 of Coimbatore's loyal Radio Cityzens, the FM station invited them to participate in an exciting Pongal making contest.

Radio City hosted the contest in studios where listeners brought along Pongal preparations made by them. These dishes were then judged by The Alankar Grand executive chef Muthukumar. The winner of the best Pongal dish was presented with goodies and was taken live on-air on Endrendrum Punnagai with RJ Roshni to share the winning recipe with the listeners.

Radio City RJs Kumar, Roshni, Viji, Praveen, Martina and Surendra spent time with the listeners, savouring the festive sweet dish. The contest saw listeners bring in a variety of Pongal specials like Ven Pongal, Chakra Pongal, Rice Pongal and Rava Pongal among others.

"Celebrating Pongal together with our listeners is just another way of making 'Whatte Fun' come alive for them. I, along with the team at Radio City Coimbatore, wish our dear listeners a very Happy Pongal," said Barua.
