MUMBAI : Shashi Kalathil will join Galaxy Entertainment, a company where Future Group has interests.

"I will be joining from 1 March," says Kalathil whose earlier stint was as CEO of Neo Sports.

Kalathil will be leading Future Group's foray into the leisure, entertainment, sport and wellness and fitness space. Galaxy Entertainment has presence in the Bowling Co, the Sports Bar and Sports Bar Express and F 123 franchises.

Future Group has a JV with Sachin Tendulkar and a JV in the fitness and wellness space with Talwarkar's, India's pioneering fitness chain.

Commenting on Kalathil's appointment, Future Group CEO Kishore Biyani said, "As the Indian economy rapidly matures the disposable part of the spend pie shall gallop ahead of other matrices such as say GDP growth. We are creating a strong sectoral play to capture a significant part of this transition from a savings-led economy to a consumption-led economy.We are fortunate to have a seasoned professional such as Shashi Kalathil joining us."

Kalathil brings with him 25 years of experience in FMCG, telecom, beverages and media companies across some of the largest Indian and multinational companies operating in India.
