MUMBAI: ICICI Bank Pvt Ltd is ready with the launch of its Global Indian Account facility in UK and US. Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan, the ambassador of the bank, will very soon be seen promoting this new ICICI instrument amongst his NRI fan club.

The Global Indian Account facility addresses the comprehensive banking needs of Indians moving overseas. These customers, prior to their departure from India, will have a bank kit comprising the host country bank account, debit card and internet banking deliveries, subject to regulatory requirements.

The facility will be available for Indians moving to UK, US and Canada. Customers will have the opportunity to complete the documentation required for the host country account in India itself. Along with this account, they would also get a non-resident rupee account in India, which would facilitate instant money transfers between their host country account and their India account. This would thus help them manage their India banking requirements when away from India.

ICICI Bank executive director Sonjoy Chatterjee said, "To begin with, we will be joining hands with companies whose employees have a salary account with us. Whenever a particular company is sending its employee abroad for work, the employee can have this kit from us so that he does not have to face any problem overseas."

To promote this facility globally, ICICI brand ambassador and actor Shah Rukh will initially be travelling abroad to meet and address the needs of the NRIs who already have an account with ICICI.

"This facility was born out of customer needs. It was their enquiries in regards to giving them some facility wherein they can access their Indian accounts abroad that generated this idea. Hence initially we have decided to target the customer base which already exists with ICICI in UK US and Canada," confirmed Shah Rukh Khan.

Khan will soon be seen shaking legs with selected NRIs who are also the customers of ICICI Bank.
