Subhiksha enters Kerala

MUMBAI: The Supermarket chain, Subhiksha announced its entry into the Kerela with an outlay of over Rs 500 million. Subhiksha will open at least 70 stores across 10 cities in Kerala.

"Our goal of becoming India's favorite neighborhood store is now well on its way. We want to be able to provide customers from all segments of society, in all parts of the country, with a viable smart shopping option. With Kerala have activated our next phase of expansion. We hope to hit the 1000-store mark during 2007," said Subhiksha MD R. Subramanian. Subhiksha's total outlay for the two phases of expansion is a Rs 5 billion.

Subhiksha is a chain of supermarkets, pharmacy stores and telecom stores. Subhiksha currently operates close to 700 outlets in nine states and over 50 cities. It offers four business verticals: groceries, FMCG products, pharmaceuticals and telecom products like mobiles, recharge cards and accessories.
