Emami to cash in on 'Shilpa' syndrome

MUMBAI: Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty has probably emerged as the luckiest victim of racial banter following her success at Endemol's reality show Celebrity Big Brother. Apart from several career offers that have almost fallen into her lap since then, Indian personal care major Emami has approached her to endorse their brands.



What's more, the Indian actress has also been given a personal invitation to meet the Queen of England to celebrate Commonwealth Day on 12 March, as well meet with with British Prime Minister Tony Blair.



With the overwhelming popularity that has suddenly descended upon the star, what a wonder there is only one Indian brand vying for her attention. Reportedly, the other offers that await Shilpa include a Hollywood film deal, a book deal and even an invite to join the BJP.

"Of course, she is popular again and we are looking to sign her up for some of our brands," Emami group director Aditya V Agarwal told PTI.
