Employment news circulation reaches 650,000

NEW DELHI: Employment News, the country’s oldest publication listing vacancies in the government and the public sector, touched a weekly circulation of 650,000 copies during 2006-07.

The weekly, which is published by the Publications Division of the Information and Broadcasting Ministry, earned revenue of Rs 2,563,000 during the first six months of the year, which is a significant improvement over the corresponding period last year. The total revenue generated in 2005-06 was Rs 4.11 million.

Meanwhile, copies of Employment News are being sent free of charge to libraries, educational institutions and Government offices in the North-East and Jammu and Kashmir regions in an attempt to reach out to the youth in those areas.

The Publications Division published 75 titles during the period April to December 2006 in English, Hindi and other regional languages. Some of the important titles released during this period include 5000 Years of Indian Architecture, The Story of India’s Struggle for Freedom, A Career for You, Upbhokta Samrakshan Adhiniyam Aur Upbhokta Adhikar, Krantikari Mahilayein, Sangeet Bachchon Ke Liye, Jallianwala Bagh, Lehron Ka Kahar, Great Men and Women of India, and Kalpana Chawla.
