MUMBAI: Mauj Telecom has introduced a first-of-its-kind innovative ring tone service - Video Ringtones - wherein one can view the ringtones.

The Video Ringtones is a brief video sequences from music videos or animation clips to announce the incoming calls, when a user receives an incoming call, the user will experience a high quality video clip on his screen announcing the call along with amazing sounds.

The caller's name will appear on the display of the video, if it is already stored in the mobile phone memory.

From a slew of the latest chart topping Bollywood music videos to cartoon characters have been offered by Mauj Telecom.

For those that are spirituality inclined, there are religious video ringtones too. Customers can download from over 200 different clips. The selection ranges from current music video hits to popular animation clips, and will be regularly expanded. The service is priced in the range of Rs 20 - 30.

Video Ringtones are now live and available on operator portals like Idea Cellular's Ideafresh, MTNL's Funstation, BSNL's CellOne Galaxy or by logging on to wap.mauj.com or by smsing 'VR' to 7007 on Idea, BSNL and MTNL.

On the occasion of the launch, Mauj COO Arun Gupta said, "With the immense success we have received through our other offerings, we have decided to introduce this service which is more personalised to a cell phone user. We are the first to introduce the video ringtone concept in India, which is our attempt to give more enhanced personalisation features to the Indian consumer. And as the 3G rollout happens in India, video ringtones are expected to be the dominant segment in the ringtone market."

Video ringtones are available for the following Smartphones, primarily all Nokia 60 series handsets like 3230, 7610, 6670, 6630, 6600, 6260, 3660, 3650, N-gage. Newer models for other handsets will also be included over the next one month.

Video ringtones are downloaded as standard symbian application and, after installation, appear in the consumer's ringtone selection list like regular ringtones. Different video ringtones can be set for different people on your contact list.
