Safilo unleashes exquisite designer eyewear brands

MUMBAI: Fashion and luxury eyewear major Safilo launched its 'Latest from Italy' exquisite winter eyewear collection of super- premium designer brands in India in a celebrity-studded event.

At its first ever fashion show in India, super-models Sapna Kumar and Indrani Das Gupta sashayed down the ramp showcasing brands like Giorgio Armani, Gucci, Ralph Lauren, Emporio Armani, Carerra, Oxydo, Diesel and Dior.

Style gurus Rohit Bal, Rohit Gandhi and Rahul Khanna and industry scions Amit and Mohit Burman were also present at the unveiling of the same.

"The market for designer eyewear brands in India is expanding beyond the metropolitans to smaller cities, which is where we have planned a significant thrust this season," said Safilo North India regional sales and marketing manager Amarbir Singh. With over 500 outlets in India, Safilo also has plans to increase its network to smaller parts of the country.

Carerra, Safilo’s inhouse brand, presented two components of its new eyewear collection: an urbane sunglasses range and another dedicated to sport, designed by Safilo creative director Enzo Sopracolle in collaboration with athletes.

Another Safilo brand - Oxydo, which is also designed by Enzo Sopracolle, combines metal and acetate to create a chromatic contrast and is emblazoned with the brand new "Ox" logo.

Apart from these, Gucci, Giorgio Armani, Diesel, Polo Ralph Lauren, Dior and Emporio Armani's latest sunglasses collections were also displayed.
