New team to lead McCann Worldgroup's EMEA region

MUMBAI: Rupert Howell and Giuseppe Usuelli, the heads of marketing communications firm McCann Worldgroup's UK and Italian agencies respectively, will take on expanded region-wide management responsibilities for the marketing communications group's Europe Middle East Africa (EMEA) region.



The two, along with McCann Worldgroup CFO Jean-Marie Le Nail, will become the key members of a new EMEA Operations Committee being formed following Regional Director David Warden's announcement of his plans to retire from December 2005.

McCann Worldgroup EMEA encompasses both advertising agencies and marketing communications companies and spans over 100 cities in 89 countries, making it McCann's most geographically complex management region.



Noting the scope of the EMEA region, McCann Worldgroup CEO John Dooner said, "We have seen in recent years, under David's leadership, a significant expansion of our marketing communications business, including the number of units, accounts and major clients employing multiple disciplines. In order to continue the momentum, we are tapping into the experience and talents of two of our most dynamic and respected leaders. Both know our clients and their goals, as well as the people and power of our extensive network. They will be aided by Jean-Marie, the new CFO."



Howell becomes McCann Worldgroup EMEA regional director succeeding Warden. He joined McCann two years ago as Chairman of McCann Erickson UK & Ireland Group and as President McCann Erickson EMEA, responsibilities and titles that he retains. Previously he had founded in 1987 and then led his own agency, Howell Henry Chaldecott Lury in London.

Usuelli becomes McCann Worldgroup EMEA chairman while retaining his responsibilities as Chairman and CEO of McCann Worldgroup Italy. Usuelli first joined McCann Erickson Milan in 1968, rose to General Manager of McCann Erickson Italy in 1984, to MD in 1988 and to his current role in that country in 2000.
