NuTech Digital to make DVDs of live music performances

MUMBAI: NuTech Digital, Inc. (OTCBB: NTDL), a worldwide producer and distributor of original and licenced digital entertainment content, has announced the formation of a dedicated music division to capitalise on the exploding demand among music consumers for live concert performances on DVD.

The new division, NuTech Platinum concert series aims to bring live musical concerts to the DVD marketplace with the latest in high-definition digital video technology.

"We want to continue to take a leadership position in the development of the digital entertainment marketplaces," said NuTech Digital chairman, president and CEO Lee Kasper. "Music fans are unequaled in their eagerness to embrace the newest technologies and newest formats in musical entertainment. NuTech¹s Platinum Series will become a major brand supplying these fans with filmed live concerts on DVD," he added.

NuTech's platinum series has already begun negotiations with several chart-topping and upcoming musical acts for exclusive DVD concert rights. The company is looking at capturing the concerts with state-of-the-art high-definition recording equipment, and is planning regular releases of concert DVDs throughout the year. NuTech is also looking at retaining Internet and television broadcast rights to the performances, representing significant revenue opportunities for the company.

The company's research has indicated three general types of concert films in this market: super concerts, which can ship more than 100,000 units per year; regular concerts, which can ship more than 50,000; and general concert footage, which can ship more than 20,000 units per year. NuTech will supply all three types.

The company is in the process developing several strategies for penetrating this lucrative new market, including the purchase of rights to existing but unpublished footage, and subsidising performances in exchange for DVD production and distribution rights, states Kasper.

NuTech Digital caters to the home entertainment product market, offering original and licenced content via a worldwide network of distributors, retailers and Internet entities.
