NEW DELHI: Cellular service provider Hutchinson Essar has announced that it has launched the Hutch TV-on-mobile service, which will be accessible over its Edge (Enhanced Data rate for Global Evolution)-enabled network, offering television content from 13 channels.

The Hutch TV service would deliver television content from 13 different television channels, ranging from news and current affairs, business, sports, fashion, travel and entertainment.

All Hutch and Orange users can access clips from these television channels through their Edge-enabled mobile phones, according to Hutch chief marketing officer Harit Nagpal.

The channels from where content would be available to Hutch users include CNBC-TV18, AXN, NDTV India, NDTV 24X7, Discovery, Sony, Zee TV, Max, Nick, ETV, Animax, Raj TV and Trendz.

Edge is a higher-end technology and enables better customer service.

Nagpal said, "We have offered multimedia mobile services such as cricket video clips, mobile gaming, polyphonic ring tones, click and print MMS, push2talk and corporate email through GPRS. Now with higher speeds of an Edge-enabled network, we can deliver video clips of longer duration allowing our users to view clips of their favourite serials, news bulletins, sports and lifestyle events and travel programmes while on the move."

Hutch TV, available to all GPRS users, can be accessed through the Nokia 6230 and Nokia 3220 Edge-enabled handsets. The company is also planning to launch more Edge-enabled handsets in the country, an official statement said.
