Atas seminar in US focusses on TV publicity campaigns

MUMBAI: The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (Atas) the Entertainment Publicists Professional Society (EPPS) and UCLA Extension in the US will host a seminar Entertainment Publicity: Sources, Secrets and Successes.

The event takes place on 6 November at Atas' Leonard H. Goldenson Theatre in California.



The seminar will have an in-depth look at the PR campaign behind the Screen Actors Guild (Sag) Awards featuring three-time Sag Award recipient Megan Mullally, Sag Awards executive producer Jeff Margolis among others. In India the Sag Awards air on Zee English.



In addition attendees will be prsented with a case study on the successful publicity campaign for NBC's reality show The Apprentice. This will feature the winner Bill Rancic and NBC Universal senior

press manager Jim Dowd. In India the reality show airs on Star World.



Disney will give viewers an insight into the campaign conducted for the DVD release of Pirates of the Caribbean. Its publicity VP Charlie Nelson will address the gathering.

Other topics at the conference will include The Nuts and Bolts of Working with Talent, Tools and Techniques of Entertainment Publicity and Finding Work in The Entertainment Industry. A media forum with reporters and executives from various entertainment news outlets has also been scheduled.

Atas was founded in 1946 just one month after network television was born.
