LG to sponsor 7th National Science Olympiad

MUMBAI: Taking forward its commitment in the field of education to the next level home appliances and electronics major LG Electronics India (LGEI) has announced that it will sponsor the National Science Olympiad (NSO) for 2004-05.



The NSO is an academic and scholastic aptitude competition. It encourages learning in science and mathematics, for students from class 3 to 12 between the age group 7 to 17.

The pan India competition spreads across 600 cities with active involvement from over 15,000 schools. The competition is being held at two levels spanning over a nine-month period till April 2005. The first level of examination will be held on 2 December 2004. The top 500 students from each class will be eligible for the second and final level of the competition. Students and schools interested in participation need to register before 20 November.



LGEI MD KR Kim said, "We at LG consider it to be our privilege to support and promote young talents in India. Our association with the prestigious National Science Olympiad will go a long way and help us to further reinforce our commitment towards the field of education as a whole."



As the sponsor, LG will award each participant a certificate of participation. The winners in each of the categories would be eligible for medals, cash prizes and other exciting prizes like LG MY-PC range of computers and GSM handsets.

Each participant will also get a science quotient report. Awards will also be given to the best principal / school for participation in the NSO besides the selected teachers and parents of the winners.
