The agreement will allow Cable & Wireless to be involved in other ICC events leading up to the World Cup. Cable & Wireless has been the major sponsor of West Indies cricket for nearly 20 years.

World Cup 2007 CEO Chris Dehring was quoted in a company release saying that telecommunications would be an integral part of the success of the event. He also stated that having seen the South Africa operations last year he clearly understands the telecommunications needs of World Cup 2007.
