MPC to work on DD News' promos, automation system

NEW DELHI: DD News has chosen production company Moving Pictures Company Limited (MPC) as its "creative agency" following a multi-agency pitch.

Confirming the move, an official involved in the process said, “The contract was awarded on the basis of presentation and price bid.” The financial details weren’t disclosed.

Moving Pictures has already started designing the look of the channel, with new graphics, and developing the brand with on-air promotions. The mandate also includes developing an automation system.

“The design for the virtual set has been created and new promotions have already been introduced. Next in the pipeline are breaking news/stock ticker automation packages and graphics package for the elections. But it’s too early to comment on anything further. The total overhaul might be introduced only after elections,” added the source.

Moving Pictures, which had worked with Doordarshan National for a project in the past, was chosen ahead of Beehive Systems and Broadcast Consultancy Services, according to sources.

Moving Pictures is working in conjunction with the DD team including station engineer Rajat Nigam for automation system and consulting editors Deepak Chowrasia and Sanjeev Paliwal, and their team for other aspects of the mandate.

The development follows the recent change in DD News logo and studio sets. In February, a tinge of red has been introduced in DD News logo, which used to be all-black previously.
