Mcdonald's creates campaign for Athens Olympics

MUMBAI: At the Cannes Advertising festival fast food major McDonald's unveiled new advertising plans. This included a campaign for the upcoming Olympic Games in Greece starring Chief Happiness Officer, Ronald McDonald.
 
 

Created by Leo Burnett Worldwide the ads are a part of the i'm lovin' it brand campaign which kicked off last year. Ronald McDonald participates in various sports like diving, water ballet, swimming and the hammer throw. They will be aired by McDonald's worldwide later this summer to coincide with the Olympics.

Leo Burnett executive creative director who directed the ads John Montgomery added, "These humorous Ronald McDonald ads showcase the 'forever young, forever fun' spirit of McDonald's. McDonald's new brand direction and 'freedom within a framework' approach have allowed us to create fresh, relevant and breakthrough advertising."

McDonald's will also debut a new Olympic commercial starring tennis champions Venus and Serena Williams, and another featuring McDonald's Olympic Champion Crew. They will serve athletes, coaches and spectators at the Games.

McDonalds claims that the "i'm lovin' it" statement become its signature brand voice in 119 countries. It has been able to generate awareness figures as high as 96 per cent in some parts of the world.
