MUMBAI: Well, one does not know if it is a strategic move or not, but Star India launched its first audio cassette at the Star Parivaar awards, last week. The inauguration was conducted by Star COO Sameer Nair and the cassette named Star Parivaar is already available in the market priced at Rs 45.

Star India's senior vice president content and communication Deepak Segal elucidates, "Considering the response we got for our title tracks via e-mail and post, we thought it was a good idea for us to launch our own audio cassette."

The tape, essentially a concoction of title songs and medleys of themes of the top programmes on Star, has been released by Universal Music India.

So was the genesis of the idea prompted by the viewers? To that Segal adds, "Well, finally the idea is ours, but let's say the viewers catalysed the whole process.

There is more to come. Star Parivaar Vol. 2, is already in the pipeline. Queried as to when it would hit the market, Segal said, "Let's see how Vol. 1 does. Depending on the response, we'll take the second one forward."
