MUMBAI: Cricketer V.V.S. Laxman is looking to carry his great form against Australia onto the battle field to eradicate polio.

The star has joined the Bowling Out Polio campaign for Andhra Pradesh. Laxman said, “After 21 cases in 2003 in Andhra Pradesh it is commendable that the team effort of all concerned have brightened the hopes of complete Polio eradication with only one case reported so far this year”.

Unicef meanwhile released Polio Eradication TVCs featuring Megastar Chiranjeevi in Telugu language and Dr. Rajkumar in Kannada. Drawing a parallel to cricket Laxman said “We cannot give in to fatigue. Instead we have to continue to bat till the Polio virus is completely demoralised and we have eradicated even the threat of its resurgence.

"The new Polio case in Srikakulam is just like an unexpected wicket falling just when we are about to win the match. We cannot win till the last runs are scored. Similarly we can't rest till we achieve zero incidence of polio”.
