| Burson-Marsteller Greater China COO Susan Tomsett
said, "This is a significant win for BM China given the severe
economic climate. We are thrilled to be recognised by the industry
for our efforts in not only providing innovative and strategic communications
counsel to clients but also in maintaining excellent quality and standards
as a leading consultancy in the region. Winning this award would not
have been possible without the support of our exceptional talents
at BM and the great clients with whom we work for every day."
PR Week (Asia) had received a total of 175 entries, for communications
and public relations campaigns implemented during 2002-2003, from
major public relations agencies, governments, corporations, and
non-profit organisations. The entries were judged by an 11-member
panel comprising leading senior communications specialists within
the public relations industry, media, and the private sector across
Asia Pacific.
BM's innovation was lauded by the judges in a number of key areas:
assisting clients in the development of credible corporate social
responsibility programs; pioneering training services by extending
its in-house training capabilities to clients; and continued pro-bono
work with the Special Olympics Committee in China.
Commenting on BM China's achievements, one of the 11-member panel
judges said, "BM China successfully navigated its way through
tough waters during 2002-2003 and developed best practices to stay
true to its values as a public relations consultancy."
Tomsett added, "We take pride in providing benchmarks for
the industry and will continue to invest in our people and broaden
the scope of our business services. For example, we have had tremendous
success with our Centre for Advanced Communications, where we provide
media training to clients in a conducive training environment."
In addition to its "Consultancy of the Year" accolade,
BM China also picked up the top award for its successful efforts
in Hewlett-Packard's 99 Families Campaign and a "Certificate
of Excellence" in the Marketing Communications category. BM
Asia Pacific was also awarded "Network of the Year" for
the region.
HP Asia Pacific director of brand and marketing communications
(Imaging & Printing Group) Ivy Liang said, "The value-added,
strategic counseling that BM has provided to HP enables us to differentiate
ourselves from our competitors in China. They worked with us on
finding innovative ways to build partnerships that pave the way
for the future."
