Previously, Hsu was VP of news advertising sales for southeast Asia. Leading CNN International's advertising team in Asia Pacific, Hsu will now be responsible for setting business strategy, cross-divisional marketing packages and overall sales operations for all sales teams in the region.

Hsu joined CNN in 1996 and was based at the broadcaster's regional headquarters in Hong Kong. Hsu moved to Singapore in 1998 and since then has been responsible for CNN International's sales activities in Southeast Asia.

CNN International's news ad sales executive VP Kevin Razvi was quoted in an official release saying, "William is one of the most experienced executives at CNN ad sales in the region. This appointment rewards his outstanding contributions and reflects his new and expanded role. As our sales performance in the Asia Pacific has been exceptional in the past years his leadership will assure a continued success moving forward".
