NEW DELHI: Union Bank of India has awarded its public relations account to Ogilvy PR India following a pitching process. The development was confirmed by Ogilvy PR.

According to information available, this is for the first time that the bank has decided to work with an external PR firm. Union Bank of India is looking at increasing its visibility and brand awareness through its association with Ogilvy PR.

Ogilvy PR has been allotted the account on one year contract basis.

With Union Bank of India undertaking a series of initiatives for making its operations consumer friendly apart from technical upgradation of its network, the PR firm has been tasked with improving the image of the bank.

“Union Bank's mandate to us is to build a distinct image based on a slew of new initiatives, both technological and customer-oriented,” says Ogilvy PR president Ajay Kakar, who was appointed as country head of the PR firm in September last year.

The PR partner would be working on media relations strategy and investor relations apart from other initiatives in order to provide an image-makeover for the bank.
