Padmalaya signs co-prod deal with US-based studio

NEW DELHI: Extending its recent spree of international deals in the animation sector, Padmalaya Telefilms Limited has concluded an agreement to co-produce a 26 episode TV series with US-based Cybergraphix Animation. The show - God Kids is a 2D animation project, which will be executed using state of the art 2D animation techniques.


The co-production partnership with Cybergraphix Animation has been put together by Animation Bridge chief executive officer Biren Ghose, who will act as executive producer for the series. God Kids is aimed primarily at the 7-12 age group and the pilot episode will be launched at MIPTV 2004.

Padmalaya Telefilms vice-president Rajiv Sangari attributed the singing of the deal to credentials of the creative team put together by Cybergraphix for the show.

God Kids is being directed by Nelson Rencinos, who is a two time Emmy Award winner and scripted by Micheal Reeves.

The development follows a major deal with European studio for production of four episodes and two movies to be made over the next five to seven years. The name of the client will be disclosed in February, according to the company.

Padmalaya is also producing 52-episode 22-minute flash animation series Bheema Keema for leading 24-hour Hindi entertainment channel Zee TV. The series will be targeted at urban and semi-urban audience and will be aired in Hinglish language.

The series, scheduled to go on air in the first quarter next year is being planned for primetime slot on Sunday.
