John Osborn appointed president & CEO of BBDO NY

MUMBAI: Thirty seven year old John B Osborn has been appointed as the new president and CEO of BBDO New York. Osborn is by far the youngest president in BBDO's history.
 
 

An inductee in the 2003 American Advertising Federation (AAF) Hall of Achievement Osborn was most recently executive VP and director of integrated marketing for BBDO North America.

BBDO Worldwide president Andrew Robertson said, "John is a passionate, positive and energetic leader who has proven his ability to build strong client relationships and to lead people into new areas of marketing communications. He cares about his clients, his people and the work. He is the right guy to lead BBDO New York into its next chapter."

Osborn, who joined BBDO New York in 1991 as an account executive on Diet Pepsi, has been actively involved with many of the agency's clients including GE, Cingular and MasterFoods. For the last year, he has been the Worldwide account director on FedEx. He has also been the principal architect and engineer of the agency's integrated communications service offering.

"John is always trying to figure out how we can do better, smarter work for our clients," noted BBDO New York chairman and chief creative officer Ted Sann. "He gets out ahead of the problems before they happen. He offers ideas. He builds teamwork. The result is a great creative partner, a great client relationship and, usually, a great campaign."

Added FedEx senior VP global marketing Laurie Tucker, "We at FedEx are absolutely, positively delighted over John's promotion. He contributed significantly to the great success of our 'Relax, It's FedEx!' campaign, our best in years. John is a client guy to the core. BBDO made a very wise choice!"

Osborn was also involved with the agency's efforts on behalf of the "New York Miracle" campaign, which helped lift the spirits of New Yorkers in the wake of the 11 September attacks.
