On 4 February Dev will be visiting schools in New Delhi to meet
and interact with Under-19 school children and to stress upon the
equal importance played by academics and sports in their life.
School kids from New Delhi will get a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity
to meet Kapil Dev and pick up a lot of tricks and tips on cricket
that the cricketer will be providing them with.
Kapil Dev will visit the Delhi Public School, R K Puram and Springdales
High School in New Delhi and will interact with the children, give
them valuable advice and also play cricket with them. In each of
the schools 19 bowlers will be chosen to bowl against Kapil Dev.
MAX assistant VP - marketing Tushar Shah said, "Kapil's Under-19
is an innovative exercise conceptualised by MAX as a prelude to
the ICC U/19 Cricket World Cup 2004 that will be telecast in February
and March 2004 on MAX. It gives us great pleasure to take Kapil
Dev to schools across India. It is a great opportunity for children
to meet and learn from the legendary cricketer. The people of New
Delhi have always supported us, and we are looking forward to this
event's success in this beautiful city."
Added Shah, "You will recall the phenomenal success of Gully
Cricket, in which MAX took Kapil Dev to the gullies and streets
of several cities across the country. Now, with Kapil's Under-19,
we are taking Kapil Dev to schools across the country. After New
Delhi we will take Kapil Dev to Hyderabad and Bangalore."
On his forthcoming visit to New Delhi, MAX brand ambassador Kapil
Dev said, "A great wealth of cricketing talent exists amongst
the youth of India. This talent needs to be nurtured and given the
right impetus, and the Under-19 is the ideal platform to do the
same. With Kapil's Under-19, I hope to share my experiences with
the teenagers and inspire them to give sports including cricket
as much importance as academics. I look forward to my visit to New
Delhi."
