MUMBAI: Turner Broadcasting System (TBS) in the US
had launched a unique initiative a few weeks ago. It had invited viewers
to choose commercials which they felt were the funniest.
Now it will air the choices in a special on 29 December.
The show is being produced for TBS by Robert Dalrymple Productions
in conjunction with TWI.
The special will pay tribute to the abundant creativity
found in television advertising and gives our viewers the perfect
opportunity to enjoy the best from the past year. The show will have
commercials from the US and around the world. 50 spots will take the
spotlight. Ten of these will be voted on by the viewers in advance
to determine which commercials they think deserve the title of Funniest
Commercial of the Year. This year-end show will be hosted by former
Saturday Night Live star Kevin Nealon from Times Square and other
exciting New York locations.
In November, viewers were invited to go online to
TBS's site to view 10 funny international and domestic spots and then
choose their favourite. Independent producer TWI produces, packages
and distributes sports programming in the world. It produces and distributes
more than 6,500 hours of original programming annually to more than
200 countries, covering 200+ sporting events.
