BANGALORE: Buoyed by the success of sale of BSNL and Spice cellular recharge cards at the airport and the GPO, Bangalore Postal Department (P&T) plans to make the same available to the subscriber vide the common postman.

The subscriber who informs the postman about his requirements receives the required denomination at the earliest. The validity of the discharge cards will be from the date of activation and not from the date of purchase. Initially the postman will supply Rs.300 and Rs.500 recharge cards in the first phase. The post person will have an incentive of Re1 per card, and could be later extended to any postal employee who sold the card.

The department plans to hand out pamphlets with details of the scheme to the public and through postal persons. At present BSNL sells cards through private agencies, but, once an MOU has been signed with P&T, the department will limit itself to BSNL cards.
