MUMBAI: Scenic locales in and around Europe have become a "must haves" in most of the Indian movies for the last few years. But barring movies like Johar Mehmood in Hong Kong, Gumraah and Company, to name a few; Hong Kong hasn't really been seen in Indian movies.

Hence, to promote tourism, the Hong Kong Tourism Board members visited India to raise awareness among Bollywood producers and directors and urged them to visit Hong Kong to shoot their films.

The conference, which was held in Mumbai on 12 August was hosted by Hong Kong Tourism Board regional director South and South East Asia David Leung and executive director Clara Chong.

Chong said Hong Kong was touted as 'Hollywood of the East' and there were a lot of similarities between Mumbai and Hong Kong. For one, both had a history of colonial rule, both had beautiful harbours and just like Hong Kong, Mumbai is a city that never sleeps.

Speaking about how Bollywood movies can boost tourism, Chong said, "We have done a whole lot of surveys through which we found that our customers believe that movies can boost tourism. Also Hong Kong has beautiful beaches, harbours and enchanting islands which can be apt for movies."

Chong further said that Bollywood-linked marketing can work for them where the movies will show the Hong Kong attractions to audiences in India and thus this would boost tourism.

Leung on his behalf urged everyone present at the conference to come to Hong Kong by saying - "Hong Kong - Live It! Love It!"

The conference was anchored by Rakshanda Khan. Musician Louis Bank and his group enthralled the audience with their brilliant performance. The conference was attended by the likes of producer Vashu Bhagnani, Mukesh Bhatt, N Chandra, and many more.

So maybe it's time to say - 'Move over Europe... here comes Hong Kong.' We can only wait and watch!
