Speaking about the need for the road shows, Splash channel director
Mumbai Nirmala Nath says, "The objective for the road shows
was to conduct a promotional event for Splash to build awareness
about the channel and its programmes. Also it is meant to be a fun
event for the kids wherein they would win a lot of prizes."
The Splash road shows are being professionally managed by an event
management company. The channel's event coordinator Maruthi Vikram
said, "Karo or be Splashed! is a fun filled activity for kids
where they will be given some tasks to do. If they are able to complete
the given tasks, then they will be rewarded but if they are not,
then they would be splashed with water! The whole idea is to have
kids interacting with the channel and also providing them with a
lot of fun activities."
The road shows, which will also be aired on the channel, will follow
a set route and will cover major South Indian cities from Vellore
to Pondicherry. Splash is planning to create awareness about the
road shows by placing ads in certain retail outlets in Chennai.
Splash's mobile vans will visit select schools in the South during
school hours wherein the anchors will urge kids to participate.
In the non-school hours, the channel's mobile vans will be placed
strategically at popular hangouts like the beach or restaurants
where the show's anchors would be interacting with the kids.
After the initial road shows in the South which begin towards the
end of August; the channel will take a break and resume them around
September - October so as not to clash in with the kids' examinations.
However, in other non-South Indian cities, the road shows will commence
only around October - November.
When asked about when the road show would be hitting Mumbai, Nath
said, "Right now Splash has about 40 per cent connectivity
in Mumbai so it really doesn't make sense bringing the road show
here right now. But we are looking at getting 100 per cent connectivity
in the next couple of months and once that is achieved, the road
shows will hit Mumbai city too."
