MUMBAI: It's been on the cards for a while and now
it's official. Star India's head of sales for the network Kevin Vaz
has been promoted to executive vice-president ad sales..
The
elevation from senior V-P ad sales took place a couple of days ago
and marks the first time since Raj Nayak's exit in September 2002
that Star India has an ad sales head of EVP grade.
It needs recalling here that it was only on 1 March 2004 that Vaz
took over as head of sales for the Star network. Vaz had been heading
ad sales at Star Plus, which accounts for nearly 90 per cent of
the network's ad revenues, for well over a year by then.
Vaz's story has truely been that of someone who has risen from
the ranks. He has certainly come a long way in the last eight years
from being just another ad sales executive at Star to executive
vice-president heading sales at India's lead broadcast network.
