MUMBAI: MTV has launched the Big Dum Big Hate contest. To enter the contest, participants have to write about the issue that peeves them the most. The contestant whose problem sounds most urgent will win Rs 50,000.

It might sound like wishy-washy stuff but the channel is not interested in the petty personal problems like 'bad' teachers, neighbours, friends, dogs, etc. According to the snippet that they have put up on their site, they are looking out for situations that need correction, not people.

In association with its dare devil hunt Bum Mein Dum, the music channel is looking at coming up with solutions for socially relevant issues. The contestants are required to write about the problem that makes them see red. It could be about lack of hygiene in the locality, or about the life in college/school, basically something about their neighbourhood /college/city that they want to change. But that's not all. What they have to also do is narrate how would they solve the problem, if they are given Rs 50,000 to fix it. As for the lucky chosen one, the channel will not only give him or her the money but will also help solve the problem.
