The company has stated that Thondapi's appointment is a significant
step - given the rapid growth plan that its promoters envisage for
the exhibition business. The company is looking to Thondapi's rich
experience to help it realise its business objectives and set industry
benchmarking.
Shringar Cinemas was started six years ago with the core objective
of providing the cinema patrons a unique and exhilarating movie
viewing experience. At the onset, the company had the foresight
to acquire programming rights for theaters like Cinemax, Cinestar,
IMAX multiplex in Mumbai. It, then, went on to expand the business
across several properties across the country.
Shringar Cinemas also conceived Fame Adlabs, the first ever state
of art five screen multiplex at Versova. Now, Shringar Cinemas is
planning to introduce five additional multiplexes in Western India
by 2005. An official release informs that the company also plans
to pioneer the concept of 'Gold Class' theatres in India with the
launch of its forthcoming property Fame Mindspace in the western
suburbs of Mumbai.
Coming back to Thondapi, some of his achievements included turning
Chennai blue during the launch of the Pepsi brand. He also helmed
an integrated marketing campaign for Mirinda which helped the brand
to achieve strong market share.
For his innovative marketing strategies and leadership excellence,
Thondapi won awards including: 'Pepsi High Performance Leadership'
Award, 'All India Signage Oscar' Award and 'Pepsi Innovator Award".
In addition, he has also received the gold and bronze awards from
the Ad Club.
