Yahoo
has launched a print campaign and a six language; eight-market
online promotion called "The Yahoo! FIFA World Cup Challenge,"
which offers soccer fans a chance to play a 28-day online
game and win tickets to the final in Yokohama, Japan.
The internet portal on 28 May announced a tie up with Havas'
Euro RSCG Worldwide, marking an expansion of the company's
existing relationship with the network. The announcement comes
as the Internet portal prepares to launch a TV campaign in
10 global markets behind its FIFA 2002 World Cup soccer sponsorship.
Euro RSCG is already Yahoo's agency of record for global projects
in Canada, Singapore and Brazil. Each of Yahoo's regions continues
to have its own agency of record. Havas' Black Rocket Euro
RSCG, San Francisco, is Yahoo's US agency of record.
Black Rocket Euro RSCG will be leading FIFA World Cup advertising
activities, which include creating the FIFA's official website
for the event, fifaworldcup.com. The 32-team soccer tournament,
which begins 31 May, will be held jointly in South Korea and
Japan.
