Viacom to have simultaneous cross-promotional activity on 13 networks and websites

(Posted on 18 March 2002 5:55 pm)

Global media major Viacom, which runs MTV and Nickelodeon, has announced a one of a kind media promotion. This concerns the upcoming Paramount Pictures/Nickelodeon Movies' sci-fi action adventure film Clockstoppers

An official release informs that at 8:00 p.m. (EST) and 5:00 p.m. (PT) on Tuesday, 26 March Viacom will freeze regular programming on 13 networks and multiple Viacom Web sites. They will all broadcast the Clockstoppers Global Giveaway. This is a live, on-air instant giveaway. At stake is the grand prize of a trip around the world in a private jet. The second prize is $10,000.

The release informs that support for the give away began on 5 March on 13 Viacom networks. Promos have been running on the channels informing fans of the opportunity to win the prizes.

Among the television outlets participating in the 26 March event are BET, CMT, MTV, MTV2, Nickelodeon, Nickelodeon's Games & Sports, Noggin, TNN, TV Land, VH1, VH1 Classic, VH1 Soul and VH1 Country. The Viacom Web sites involved in the promotion are Clockstoppers.com, CMT.com, Paramount.com, Nickjr.com Nick.com, TVLand.com and VH1.com.

Around 180 Viacom-owned radio stations are promoting the give-away with tune-ins to the contest leading up to and during the event.

The event will air live from Nickelodeon Studios in Orlando, Florida. The nature of the contest will be unveiled along with a toll-free number. Phone calls will be monitored and the 28th caller gets the money while 29th caller gets the trip.

Once the winners have been announced all participating networks and sites will resume normal activity. The exception is Nickelodeon, which shortly after the contest will air a special half-hour live program. This will allow its audience to call the toll-free number for more prizes. These will be in the form of merchandise from the film like bikes, watches and skateboards.

Viewers can also see an 11-minute special The Making of Clockstoppers. The film stars Jesse Bradford, Paula Garces, French Stewart, Michael Biehn and Robin Thomas and opens in America on 29 March.

Nickelodeon Movies is the feature film development and production division of Nickelodeon, which produces movies for kids and their families in association with its sister Viacom company, Paramount Pictures.

Nickelodeon Movies' releases claim to have grossed over $450 million at the box office and include The Rugrats Movie and Oscar nominee Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius.
