KirchSport AG, the company responsible for global marketing
and sales of the broadcast rights to the 2002 and 2006 FIFA
has appointed UK based Sports Marketing Surveys as its official
television research and monitoring centre.
The live monitoring of the event will cover all major international
markets and broadcast channels, ensuring that the World Cup
is not being broadcast on any non-rights holding channels.
Moreover, there will be a watch on 120 channels to ensure
that sponsors' and partners' rights are fully protected, says
an official release.
In addition, an Internet Infringement Programme carried out
by Sports Marketing Surveys will identify any audio, video
or virtual content appearing on the internet. The programme
will monitor websites in football-oriented and commercial
markets, such as sports sites, broadcaster sites, betting
sites, news sites and TV replays.
About 3,000 key websites have already been subject to automated
and manual searches, which will continue during and after
the event, says the release. There will also be an extensive
communications campaign targeting the world's largest Internet
service providers, portals and Internet proxies to ensure
that there is adequate awareness about the rights situation,
it says.
