MUMBAI:
Delhi's leading paper Hindustan Times is hoping to
significantly increase business opportunities in the south
and west.
According
to Rohit Adya, who just has just been appointed as assistant
V-P, heading HT's media marketing in the west and south:
"Businesses which have a presence in the north or are looking
for marketing opportunities or expansion in the north is what
we are targeting." Adya gave the example of international
apparel brand Crocodile whose India operations are headquartered
in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. HT was coordinating with
Crocodile to develop below the line marketing opportunities
for the apparel major leveraging the newspaper's extensive
network in the north, Adya says.
Adya
is headquartered in Mumbai and and is responsible for pushing
business in the states of Maharashtra, Gujarat and Goa in
the west and Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Kerala
in the south.
Adya was earlier with Vijay TV as CEO for just under two years
till Star India took a controlling stake in Vijay last year.
An MBA from FMS, Delhi University, Adya started his career
as a management trainee in Usha International Ltd. After 13
years with Usha, he joined the Times Group. He was 10 years
with the Times Group in various capacities and at the time
he left to join Vijay, he was publisher - Economic Times,
Chennai, branch head & general manager & country head, Times
Card.
