The
ad world will get to see some more action and celebration
in the country's commercial capital when the Emvies 2002
come alive on 15 April.
The
Emvies 2002 are the awards for excellence, achievement and
innovation in media given out annually by the Advertising
Club, Bombay. On Wednesday, ad agencies who are in the fray,
presented their best campaigns during the year at a meet
hosted by the Ad Club. WPP, Lodestar, Madison, Rediffusion,
Ogilvy Outreach and McCann were among the agencies that
pitched their best campaigns to the jury. The best of the
lot will be hand picked for the awards on Monday at the
Chambers Terrace, Taj Mahal Hotel, Mumbai at 7 pm.

Wednesday's
meet also saw presentations by MTV's Vikram Raizada, Dainik
Bhaskar's Eric D'Souza and Chitralekha's Raja Gupta. Among
the brands that the agencies will grab the awards for innovative
campaigns are Colgate Fresh Energy Gel, Maruti Versa, Pepsodent,
Indica, Lakme Sunglasses and Van Heusen.
Last
year, the gold trophy for media strategy and implementation
went to HTA for De Beers diamonds and Initiative Media for
Britannia's 50:50 brand of biscuits. The trophy for media
research was bagged by O&M for Passion Measurement while
the trophy for media inventions was received by Select Direct
for Locator.
This year's judges include Madison's Sam Balsara, Carat's
Meenakshi Madhvani, McCAnn's Chintamani Rao, Zee's Sandeep
Goyal, India Today's Mohini Bhullar, Star TV's Raj Nayak,
Daily Jagran's Shailesh Gupta and consultants Praveen Tripathi
and Dorab Sopariwala.
