MUMBAI: Telecom service provider Vodafone Essar has announced the launch of another edition of its ‘Vodafone Star of the Match’ competition for the DLF Indian Premier Leagtue (IPL) season three.

Through this competition, Vodafone provides an opportunity to all its customers to be seen on national television being honoured by the winning captain during the post match ceremony. The winning captain will present the ‘Star of the Match’ with a personally autographed match ball.

One ‘Star of the Match’ will be chosen for each of the 60 DLF IPL matches that will be held this season. Since this is a nationwide competition, Vodafone will provide each winner with a return trip air ticket and hotel accommodation at the city where the match is played. The competition has started and will continue till the end of the event.

Both prepaid and postpaid Vodafone customers can participate in the ‘Star of the Match’ competition. To participate, Vodafone customers have to call 121 (toll free), and answer a simple question related to cricket.

Vodafone Essar CMO Kumar Ramanathan said, “We know that many of our customers are cricket fans and that DLF IPL is one of the most popular cricket tournaments in India. We want to make this an opportunity for our customers to become an integral part of cricketing history. This initiative was highly appreciated by our customers last year. This year too, we hope to make them feel special, make them feel like a Star.”

Last year Vodafone flew 20 winners to South Africa to watch the IPL match as a part of ‘Star of the Match’ competition. Manish Patel, one of the winners last year, said: “Watching the DLF IPL T20 match as a Star of the match was a very exciting experience. Receiving the match ball signed by the winning captain Yuvraj Singh will bet the most memorable moment of my life.”
