MUMBAI: US broadcaster NBC has picked up the sly new drama series ?Camp? for 13 episodes for broadcast in the summer, it was announced by NBC Entertainment president Jennifer Salke.

NBC says the show is in the tradition of ?Meatballs? and ?Dazed and Confused?. In the one-hour drama, parents decompress with gin while teenagers make gleeful mischief and fall in and out of love. Little Hawk Family Camp is where mother nature and human nature collide.

Salke said, "In our desire to make summer an exciting place at NBC along with our signature unscripted shows like ?America?s Got Talent?, ?The Voice? and ?American Ninja Warrior?, we developed a scripted dramedy we love with Berman Braun that has rich and dysfunctional characters in that great setting where millions of families and young people go each summer: camp. Most of us have had great experiences at camps, and this show -- created by two of our favorite producers, Liz Heldens (creator of ?Deception?) and Peter Elkoff (co-executive producer of ?Deception?) -- is sophisticated, funny, and emotional, and we think it will be the ideal summer series for us."

Casting will be named at a later date. Production is scheduled to begin in Australia in March.

MUMBAI: On the heels of celebrating its 12,000th episode, NBC has extended its long-running daytime drama "Days Of Our Lives" for an additional year, taking the show through September 2014 and past its 48th year anniversary in November 2013. The extension was announced by NBC Entertainment president Jennifer Salke.

Salke said, "We are thrilled to announce that "Days Of Our Lives" is not going anywhere. It is NBC?s longest-running drama series by far and is one of the most historic brands in television. We commend Ken Corday and the entire creative team on continuing to keep the stories and characters fresh, exciting and relevant year after year."

Sony Pictures Television president Steve Mosko said, "?Days Of Our Lives? has maintained a loyal and dedicated fan base for more than four decades and continues to reach a new generation of viewers. We appreciate NBC?s support over the years and, as the show celebrates this significant milestone, we are thrilled that the show will continue to be a part of the NBC family."

Executive producer Ken Corday follows in the tradition of his parents, Betty and Ted Corday, who co-created ?Days of our Lives? and helmed the series for many years. Corday said, "After so many years in the homes and hearts of our loyal fans, I?m both humbled and elated to say it?s 2013 and we?re still going strong. I am equally proud that the sense of family which my mom and dad established in our show 48 years ago, is still what drives it today. As we celebrate our 12,000th episode with an amazing cast and great support from our network, we look forward to what?s yet to come!"

MUMBAI: Film and television star Michael J. Fox is making his long-awaited return to series television on NBC, the network where it all began for him 30 years ago with ?Family Ties?.

The untitled comedy series, from Sony Pictures Television and Olive Bridge Entertainment, was given a 22-episode commitment and is loosely inspired by people and elements in Fox?s life.

NBC Entertainment chairman Robert Greenblatt said, ?To bring Michael J. Fox back to NBC is a supreme honour and we are thrilled that one of the great comedic television stars is Coming Home again. From the moment we met with Michael to hear his unique point of view about this new show, we were completely captivated and on board. He is utterly relatable, optimistic, and in a class by himself, and I have no doubt that the character he will create ? and the vivid family characters surrounding him ? will be both instantly recognisable and hilarious. Being in business with him is a supreme pleasure.?

NBC Entertainment president Jennifer Salke said, "We have all been such huge fans of Michaels and hoped one day he would return to television with his own show. He had us at hello with his warmth, humor and incredible charisma. The fact that he pitched us a show that was funny, heartwarming and personal was the icing on the cake! We are over the moon and thankful Michael, Will (Gluck) and Sam (Laybourne) will be a cornerstone of our NBC comedy brand."

Fox said, ?I?m extremely pleased to be back at NBC with a great creative team and a great show. Bob Greenblatt and all the folks at the network have given me a warm welcome home, and I?m excited to get to work.?

The series will begin filming this year and will air next year. It features Fox as a husband and father of three from New York City dealing with family, career, and challenges -- including Parkinson?s -- all loosely drawn from Fox?s real life.
