NEW DELHI: The Madras high court has retrained Sun Distribution Services Pvt Ltd from discontinuing in any way the signals for forty-three popular television channels.

The interim stay till 10 June was passed by vacation judge Justice R Karuppiah on a petition by Aadhaar Digital Vision Pvt Ltd which had alleged that the signals were sought to be disconnected pending a suit between the parties.

The court also directed that notice be served on the general manager of Sun Distribution Services.

The 43 channels include mostly Tamil channels, apart from Disney, Colors, MTV, Hungama, Nick, Vh1, History, Comedy Central and channels of TV 18.

According to Chennai Metro Cable Operators Association chairman Madhav Prabhakar, several new MSOs delayed in setting up control rooms and SMS Report systems.

All new cable operators-run MSOs got the 21-day disconnection notice. One MSO cut 45 channels but these were restored through another Madras high court order.
