• AXN brings back Minute to Win for Indian audiences

    MUMBAI: English entertainment channel AXN is gearing up to launch the second season of game show India?s Minute To Win It.

    The second season will premiere on 8 October and will air every Saturday-Sunday at 8 pm. Gaurav Kapoor will once again host the show.

    AXN Networks India VP Rohit Bhandari says, "Keeping in mind the adventure and fun loving audiences that AXN has in India, we are extremely excited about launching the second season of India?s Minute To Win It. Based on the enthusiastic responses that we received to the first season last year, we were very clear that we would be launching the second season of the show to give our loyal audience the opportunity to win the grand prize of Rs 10 million again."

    The format of Minute To Win It is owned by NBC Universal and has been brought to India exclusively by AXN in the form of an original production.

    The show enjoys captivated audiences in Australia, Russia, Sweden, Uruguay, Germany, Colombia and Brazil.

  • AXN kicks off X Factor on 22 September

    MUMBAI: AXN will kick off the music-based reality show X Factor on 22 September.

    The show will air Thursday - Friday at 7 pm to catch the youth audiences. The repeat at 10 pm the same day is to draw in the channel?s regular viewers.

    Said AXN India senior VP Rohit Bhandari, "The aim is to broaden the appeal of the channel and attract an older audience as well."

    Simon Cowell, who used to judge American Idol, will be the judge of this show. The panel also includes Paula Abdul, Nicole Scherinzger and Antonio ?L.A.? Reid.

    The victor, who could be a single artist, a band or a troupe, gets a $5 million contract with Syco/Sony Music.

    The contestants with their vocal ability, charisma and stage presence have the task of not only spellbinding the panel but also engaging fans.

    The format originated in the UK.

  • Sony Pictures Television acquires rights for 'The Confession'

    MUMBAI: Sony Pictures Television (SPT) has acquired the original multi-platform series, The Confession, for their international channels and branded non-linear platforms.

    Starring multi award-winning actor Kiefer Sutherland and two-time Academy Award nominee John Hurt, The Confession wll premiere on SPT?s AXN-branded platforms in 125 territories and on AXN.com beginning this month.

    The announcement was made by SPT executive VP programming and production, networks Marie Jacobson.

    AXN Korea will debut the digital series first on 12 September followed by a targeted online roll out across AXN Central Europe?s 10 localised websites on 20 September with subsequent territory roll outs including Spain, Portugal, Latin America, Hong Kong, Singapore, Philippines, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia and Japan.

    The series consists of 10 original episodes, four scripted back-story episodes and extensive behind-the-scenes footage. In total, almost two hours of original content will be available in varying formats across the channels and on AXN.com in every region.

    SPT will handle additional distribution of the show worldwide and Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will handle digital and DVD distribution exclusively, outside of North America.

    Jacobson said, "The Confession is one of the highest-quality multi-platform series we?ve seen in our many years developing and buying content for our TV and digital platforms. The series will play great alongside AXN?s biggest primetime shows and Kiefer is a killer draw for our global audience."

    The Confession is a story of redemption and the exploration of good and evil. The story begins on Christmas Eve when a hitman (Kiefer Sutherland) enters a church to confess his sins to a priest (John Hurt). Through a series of gripping flashbacks, the Confessor?s story is revealed.

    The audience is taken on a dramatic journey leading to the moment where one man?s chance at ultimate redemption hangs in the balance. While at first the Confessor appears to be an evil, cold-blooded killing machine and the Priest the ultimate arbiter of good, both characters push the boundaries of right and wrong.

    MUMBAI: AXN will kick off the singing based reality show, The Voice, from 29 August.

    The musical reality show with a twist will air Monday-Thursday at 9 pm.

    The panel includes country music legend Blake Shelton, rapper Cee Lo Green, Maroon 5 front man Adam Levine and Genie in the bottle Christina Augilera.

    The show aims to be the inside out of American Idol.

    Mumbai: Action oriented broadcaster AXN will kick off the show ?Teen Wolf? tonight at 10 pm. 

    This is a teenage drama where the protagonist braves the supernatural while he struggles to lead a normal life. From sparkling in the sunshine heartthrobs to nocturnal underdogs, the craze forsupernatural characters has been a rage amongst teens. 

    The show follows Scott McCall (Tyler Posey), a high school student and social outcast who gets bitten by a werewolf while wandering in the woods. Scott attempts to maintain a normal life, while hiding from everyone his secret life as a werewolf with the exception of his best friend Stiles Stilinski (Dylan O‘Brien) who helps him through this change in his life and body.
