MUMBAI: Rupert Murdoch-owned News Corp is eyeing a 20 per cent stake in Saudi billionaire Prince Alwaleed bin Talal's broadcasting network Rotana Media.

This will mark the media giant's first major acquisition in the Middle East.

The deal is expected to see a formal bid valuing the stake this month, reports the Wall Street Journal.

Prince Alwaleed bin Talal currently holds a 5.7 per cent stake in News Corp through his investment vehicle, Kingdom Holdings.

News Corp also has a relationship with Rotana through its subsidiary, Fox International Channels which launched Fox Movies and Fox Series on the network last year.
