I&B okays community radio station in Tamilnadu

MUMBAI: The Information & Broadcasting (I&B) ministry has granted KS Rangaswamy Educational Institutions, Namakkal (Tamilnadu) to establish, maintain and operate a community radio station (CRS).

As per the agreement, the CRS will be operational within three months. With this, the number of CRS in the country will total to 56.

The CRS aims to strengthen the reach of basic education in and around Tiruchengode municipal panchayat. The CRS will focus in empowering women to become independent and carve a niche in the public to spread awareness and to reach zero level in Aids control. It will also cater to the intellectual and technological needs of rural students.
