| MUMBAI:
Global television format creator and distributor Endemol has announced a new line
up of formats, which will be available for the first time at next week's television
trade event Mipcom in Cannes, France. Headlining
this years portfolio is 101 Ways to Leave a Gameshow where
losing contestants are ejected from the show
literally. From human cannon
and catapults to bungee cords and parachute jumps, the only thing the stunts have
in common is that contestants dont know they have lost until theyre
flying through the air - and off the show.
Developed
by Endemol Argentinas creative team is XXS -
a show where ordinary chores become a colossal task. Three
families vie for cash prizes to see who can finish the housework
first. What they dont realise is that the game takes
place in a house where everything is 100 times bigger than
they are. It takes strength, endurance, and creativity to
succeed.
Created
by Endemol UK is Pointless, which sees five pairs of
contestants compete for a cash prize by winning the
fewest points. Every question on Pointless has been
asked to a panel of 100 people before the show - to find out
the most obvious and the most obscure answers. The Holy Grail
is the 'pointless answers' answers that none of the
100 polled thought of.
Also
from Endemol UK is Against the Odds - where two teams
compete in a series of games. Each crazy challenge is tested
on 100 members of the general public and the teams must predict
how many of the 100 they can beat. Get it right and they have
a chance of securing a big cash prize. Get it wrong and they
could end up with nothing.
The
new slate of shows will launch at Mipcom alongside Endemols
returning global formats including the worldwide blockbuster,
Wipeout, now in over 25 countries. The Whole 19
Yards, the game show created by Endemol UK, and commissioned
in Spain and the UK will also be among this years highlights.
The format features a twist where players and the buzzer are
separated by 19 yards of extreme obstacles.
Endemol
Chief Creative Officer Paul Römer comments,I think
its fair to say that our new generation of game show
formats this year is larger than life. These bold and ambitious
formats are a credit to Endemols creative teams and
we are extremely excited about launching them at Mipcom 2009.
Joining
the line up of Endemol's newly created shows this year is
a new portfolio of third party product, headlined by Jerry
Seinfelds comedy format The Marriage Ref, which
will make its international debut at Mipcom.
