Own: The Oprah Winfrey Network, a joint venture between Oprah Winfrey and US broadcaster
Discovery, has roped in Allan Singer as executive VP - distribution and strategy.
In
his new capacity, Singer
will report to CEO Christina Norman and will be based in Los Angeles.
Says Norman,
"Allan's expertise will ensure Own's content is available to viewers on every
platform. At launch, Own will be in more than 70 million homes, and he will be
instrumental in creating and building our relationship with our affiliate partners."
Prior to this appointment,
Singer was senior VP, content acquisition at Comcast.
Singer's
work at Comcast began in 2003 where, as senior VP of programming investments,
he managed the expansion of Comcast's network portfolio, including the acquisition
of TechTV and the launches of TV One, Comcast SportsNet Chicago, Comcast SportsNet
West, SNY and PBS Kids Sprout.
In 2006, Singer's focus was moved to Comcast's sports division as senior VP of
sports business development. |
