MUMBAI: US media conglomerate News Corp has announced that its executive VP, global marketing and corporate affairs - Gary Ginsberg will be leaving the company at the end of the year. He will, however, continue as an advisor to the company.

News Corp chairman and CEO Rupert Murdoch says, “Gary has been one of my most trusted and effective executives over the past decade. He developed and expertly managed our corporate affairs efforts, spearheaded initiatives that added significant value to our businesses, and is as well-liked and respected a colleague as any in our company. As difficult as it was to accept his decision to leave, I am pleased he has agreed to continue to serve as an advisor."

Ginsberg will remain as a consultant to Murdoch.

Ginsberg joined the company in January 1999 as executive VP for corporate communications, and over the next 11 years, expanded his portfolio of responsibilities to include investor relations, corporate social responsibility and global marketing. He was named to the company’s Executive Management Committee in 2000, and in 2007 was named to the seven-member Office of the Chairman.

He says, "It was a difficult decision to leave a company that has been such a vital part of my life and I’ll miss the many talented colleagues who have helped make this such a thrilling and fascinating ride. But I’ve been thinking about leaving for a while now to pursue something new, and this seemed like the right time to do it."

Following Ginsberg’s departure, News Corp senior VP for corporate communications Teri Everett will become the new head of corporate communications and corporate social responsibility. Reed Nolte who is senior VP for investor relations, will assume the top position in investor relations.
