| MUMBAI:
The Indian Premier League (IPL) franchisees are looking to form an association.
A
franchisee representative says that the idea was mooted at the three day workshop
in Bangkok and that the IPL Governing Council has been supportive of this move.
"The
aim is to ensure that all our concerns are addressed. We want to ensure that there
is a smoother functioning of the organisation and that we all work towards the
same goal," he adds. One
issue that concerns the franchisees is the reimbursement for incremental expenses
that were incurred after the IPL shifted to South Africa. "We want this to
be resolved. It also must be made clearer to teams about the availability of international
players for the event," the senior executive says. A
fair bit of activity could take place regarding the transfer window which opens
on Monday depending on the availability of Pakistani players. Some
teams suspended while others cancelled their contracts. The participation of the
players will depend on the Pakistan Cricket Board giving them an NOC as well as
the players getting visas to enter India. |
