| MUMBAI:
Turner Broadcasting System (TBS) is expanding its entertainment portfolio in the
Asia Pacific region with the launch of the new channel, truTV. Programmed
to feature original and unscripted reality shows, Turner Broadcasting System Asia
Pacific (TBSAP), the wholly-owned subsidiary of TBS, will launch the pay TV channel
in early 2010. The
announcement comes close on the heels of Turner's recent acquisitions of the entertainment
and lifestyle channels, MONDO 21 and Tabi Channel, in Japan. Said
TBSAP executive vice president Ian Carroll, "truTV offers a unique brand
of entertainment with real people living real lives. It's television at its most
personal and uncensored. For viewers who enjoy exciting real-life stories told
from a dramatic first-person perspective, truTV will provide front row seats to
the drama as it unfolds." Targeted
at men and women aged 29-39, truTV will feature a programming line up popular
in over 91 million households in the US including the series Black Gold, the company
said in a press statement. "As
with our new channels in Japan, the truTV launch represents our ongoing investment
to expand our networks in Asia and reflects Turner's commitment to deliver high
quality, well packaged and compelling content. We're confident that this channel
will develop a significant viewer base in Asia, as it has done in the US,"
added Carroll. |
