Warner TV branded service launches in the Netherlands

MUMBAI: Dutch cable operator Ziggo and Warner Bros. Entertainment have launched the Warner TV subscription video-on-demand (SVoD) branded service in the Netherlands.

With the service, Consumers will have the option to rent films on the same day as their DVD release through on-demand, part of Ziggo’s interactive TV service.

The announcement was made by Warner Bros. International Television president Jeffrey R Schlesinger and Ziggo CCO Marcel Nijhoff.

 

Warner TV features on-demand access to drama, comedy and sci-fi television series, as well as blockbuster movies distributed by the Studio. Under the terms of the deal with Ziggo, Warner TV will offer 150 motion pictures, 600 television series episodes and 100 hours of animation each year to viewers in the Netherlands.

The Warner TV programming will include television shows such as Friends and ER; films like Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, Ocean’s Eleven, The Matrix and All the President’s Men.

Schlesinger says, "We are pleased to be licensing our programming for exhibition on the Warner TV service in the Netherlands and to be working closely with Ziggo to give Dutch consumers a legal and reliable way to watch our television and film programming at their convenience, on demand.”

 
 

This deal marks Warner Bros. Entertainment’s first launch of the Warner TV branded service in the Netherlands and continues the company’s strategic expansion into advertiser-supported (AVoD) and SVoD branded channels around the globe. Warner TV has previously been launched with Top Up TV, Tiscali , Virgin Media and BT Vision in the UK.; FastWeb in Italy; Maxdome in Germany; On Demand Deutschland in Austria; USEN Corporation’s GyaO in Japan; and Free in France.
