MUMBAI:
Star Plus, which has been facing competition to its leadership
position from newbie Colors and long standing Zee TV, is launching
new shows to beef up its programming.
After
announcing two new shows - Star Vivaah and Godrej funded
Khelo Jeeto Jiyo - the channel is now ready to strengthen
its early prime-time slot.
Come
27 May, Star Plus will launch Mitwa
Phool Kamal Ke,
a romantic fiction show produced by BAG Films & Media
Ltd.
To
accomodate Mitwaa... at 7.30 pm slot, the channel will
shift the ongoing comedy drama Burey Bhi Hum Bhale Bhi
Hum to 7 pm. Currently,
the 7 pm slot does not have any original programming.
Ruling
the 7.30 pm slot is Zee TV's Choti Bahu, which recorded
a peak TVR of 4.47 for the week ended 16 May. Colors, on the
other hand, airs Bandhan Saat Janamon Ka at 7.30 pm,
but is planning a replacement for the poorly-rated show.
The
star cast of Mitwa... includes Rameshwari, Shahbaaz
Khan, Nigar Khan, Swati Chitnis, Manish Wadhwa, Jitendra Vazirani,
Vipra Rawal, Rudrakshi, Vikrant Rai, Deepa Parab and Shivani
Gosain.
Says
BAG Films & Media Ltd chairperson and MD Anuradha Prasad,
"BAG Films has partnered with Star Plus to create a clutter
breaking viewing experience. Mitwa... Phool Kamal Ke is
an emotional journey with many surprises and interesting twists
in human relationships. We hope to connect with our viewers
and gain their appreciation."
Adds
Star Plus GM & EVP programming Keertan Adyanthaya, "Mitwa...Phool
Kamal Ke is a love story told differently in the context
of caste differences. The story is bound to strike a chord
with our audiences who can look forward to a story of infinite
hope and great optimism."
