MUMBAI: HCL Technologies Ltd. has signed an outsourcing agreement with Viacom Inc's MTV Networks (MTVN) for developing the digital platform for the international major.

HCL will work with Viacom's digital platform development team to provide technology solutions to MTVN in digital content creation, media asset management, community networking and cross brand programming on different platforms.

The platforms include developing media player, sites, social networking platform, games, application and data platforms support.

"HCL's expertise in the media space will be critical as we continue to enhance and improve the efficiency of our digital platform infrastructure," said Viacom SVP and CIO Joe Simon.

The platforms will be developed and supported using open source technology, enabling faster time to market and reduced overall license fees.

HCL Technologies CEO Vineet Nayar said, "HCL has seen success in the last several quarters due to our ability to create solutions for our customers that exceed their objectives and bring in risk and reward sharing into the engagement for both parties. We look forward to this partnership with MTVN and demonstrating value which HCL brings."

The development centre will be based in Chennai and user interface design will be supported from Noida. HCL claims that it has committed a significant investment towards building a media centre for MTVN.
